ROI After Three Avoided Delivery Errors

For a plastic pipe manufacturer, the RFID solution for the comprehensive control of loading and delivery processes pays off after just three delivery errors are avoided

When it comes to delivering bundled plastic pipes, the large distance of over 700 kilometers between production in Swedish Lapland and the customer in Helsinki, Finland, presents a plastic pipe manufacturer with a demanding logistical challenge: Every incorrectly placed or forgotten delivery unit during transportation causes considerable time and additional costs for the company. Turck Vilant Systems developed a reliable solution to ensure sustainability in the supply chain.

Your Benefits

  • No returns or reshipments thanks to precise order picking
  • Identification of inventory errors through checkpoints saves complete inventories
  • Faster localization of delivery units in the warehouse
  • Identification of faulty production batches through track and trace

  • Read/write devices on the wheel loader identify delivery units during loading

  • The Turck Vilant Client shows directly which delivery unit is being loaded

  • The standard SGTIN96 tag enables unique identification and effective traceability of the delivery unit

Reliable identification during loading

While barcodes are still used within the warehouse, each individual delivery unit is equipped with an RFID tag for identification during loading. Compared to barcodes, the RFID tags provide greater read ranges and are also more robust against environmental influences such as snow, mud and the extreme Scandinavian climate. Besides unique identification, the use of SGTIN-96 RFID tags allows product and transport information to be used for better traceability.

Vehicle-integrated identification

Read/write devices on forklift trucks and wheel loaders enable seamless integration of identification processes into logistics workflows without additional manual effort. This means that drivers no longer have to get out of the vehicle to scan barcodes with the handheld reader and the delivery units can be identified more quickly and efficiently.

Full control over delivery processes and inventory

The RFID solution thus offers the user a precise and efficient way of minimizing delivery errors and correcting inventory errors. Moreover, return on investment (ROI) is achieved after just three avoided delivery errors.
